Automation Project Manager — US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Production Operations Business Unit, Casper, Wyoming. This role oversees all aspects of automation construction and commissioning on new development and maintenance projects, managing multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring on‑time delivery.
Responsibilities- Participates in TOTS and M&C project meetings.
- Ensures engineering documentation is available for automation commissioning.
- Facilitates alignment and allocation of manpower resources on projects.
- Aligns PLC programming integrator resources to function test and validate all automation equipment on site (devices, LOIs, switches, RTUs, etc.) per engineering design.
- Collaborates with construction teams on site regarding IFC designs, verifies automation engineering design deliverables to site IFC and resolves discrepancies.
- Communicates construction and commissioning issues, providing red‑lined documents where applicable.
- Reports on project status and ensures commissioning documents and status reports are completed.
- Collaborates with all project managers on facilities and M&C projects (Mechanical and Electrical scopes of work).
- Serves as Local Asset representative for Automation Team to Production Ops Business Unit.
- Creates an environment empowering team members to make day‑to‑day decisions, providing tools, training, and support.
- Ensures compliance with Oxy standards and best practices.
- Identifies and communicates design challenges, offering improvement suggestions.
- Assists in promoting development of team members’ professional and technical skills.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives and technical reviews of assets and new business ventures.
- Participates in annual and long‑term business planning and staffing plans.
- Assists in recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of suitable employees.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of oil‑field experience.
- Minimum of 2 years managerial experience (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of project management experience (preferred).
- In‑depth experience managing new development and maintenance construction projects.
- Strong business analysis and planning at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening, presentation).
- Problem‑solving skills for complex issues.
- Understanding of surface production equipment and process system controls.
- General knowledge of Surface, Reservoir, Downhole, Risk/AI, IT, and HSE teams.
- Advanced competency in oil and gas automation systems.
- Visionary for process improvement and new technology development.
- Ability to develop staffing plans and support through coaching and training.
