PositionAutomation System Integrator – US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management Business Unit, Casper, Wyoming.
Roles and Responsibilities- All aspects of facility commissioning with focus on automation control systems.
- Maintain project schedules to meet timelines.
- Participate actively in project meetings and design reviews.
- Maintain status reports.
- Apply advanced knowledge of facilities equipment, process flow and automation control systems, and of electrical, mechanical, software, data management and network security design.
- Develop, validate and troubleshoot PLC programs and HMI/LOI design work.
- Use PLC software such as RSLogix
500, RSLogix
5000, Direct
Soft5, ROCLINK 800/DS800, HMI programs (Red Lion Crimson, Factory Talk View, Panel View) and RTU programming. - Complete redlines and relevant documentation for automation engineering (CEs, P&IDs, 1‑lines, etc.) to support AS‑BUILT post commissioning.
- Follow company Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Adhere to Oxy program standardization and best practices.
- Support operations and automation specialists with training on automation control system functions.
- Train aspiring automation integrators on organizational processes, programming, equipment and documentation.
- Support low voltage AC (120V) devices—transformers, breaker boxes, switches, heaters, motors and analyzers—and handle basic repair.
- Troubleshoot 480V and lower AC power availability and notify the electrical team of findings requiring service or repair.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, install and use Hart communicator and multimeters for automation end devices such as switches and transmitters.
- Identify and troubleshoot Ethernet, serial, satellite and wireless field communications.
- Ensure alarms meet Oxy standards and are properly configured, functioning as intended, with appropriate change control.
- Communicate project activities with Asset Teams.
- Assist in the evaluation of new technologies, providing pros and cons.
- Act as liaison between Operations and Automation Engineering for project design and desired operating philosophy.
- Participate in Oxy Process Improvement Teams.
- Travel as needed to support unassigned job areas.
- Work 12‑hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call rotation when required.
- Demonstrate advanced teamwork, collaboration, and safety‑first attitudes for oneself, co‑workers, contractors and the public.
- 2‑year technical degree or equivalent working experience.
- 1+ year Automation Specialist/Tech experience.
- 7+ years Automation Integrator/Programming experience.
- 3+ years of Oil Field Process Facilities experience.
- 4‑year technical degree (Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Control Systems or related field) or equivalent work experience.
- Advanced understanding of automation and electrical design principles.
- Advanced technical skills with PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, EFMs, POCs (Allan Bradley, Total Flow, ROCs, Coriolis, etc.) and automation end devices.
- Intermediate knowledge of technical standards and guidelines (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, etc.).
- Advanced understanding of PSSRs and MOCs.
- Advanced understanding of automation systems and network connectivity.
- Advanced understanding of digital and analog I/O, programming and troubleshooting.
- Proficient knowledge of analog and discrete instrumentation, serial and ethernet communications protocols.
- Experienced in tagging conventions, programming simulation and testing.
- Extensive expertise in safe work systems.
- Expertise in electrical/automation construction codes and practices.
- Extensive knowledge of automation equipment specifications and applications.
- Advanced time‑management skills to prioritize multiple tasks within deadlines.
- Ability to work and perform under pressure.
