Associate Engineer

Ideal Candidates Have:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, engineering principles, and construction practices
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- For Associate Engineer II: 3+ years of experience and PE license preferred

Incumbents are responsible for providing entry-level professional engineering support to public improvement projects. Receives general guidance from the City Engineer and higher-level management staff.
Typical Class Essential Duties:
- Assists with the development of construction project cost estimates; prepares requests for proposals and project plans/specifications; reviews consultant/contractor proposals; and recommends selection of consultants/contractors.
- Inspects construction and field reviews in progress to determine compliance with designs; and initiates change orders.
- Reviews permit requests, plans, specifications and contract documents from private developers; determines compliance with codes, ordinances and laws.
- Maintains records of activities and prepares financial and operational reports.
- Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

- Civil engineering principles, practices, and standards.
- Constructions materials, principles, and practices.
- Mathematical principles.
- AutoCAD, computers and related software applications.
- Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
