Commercial Lines Team Lead

Responsible for the administration and operation of the commercial support staff in assigned locations; supervising assigned personnel and the direct handling and servicing of commercial accounts in accordance with the practices, policies and procedures of the company. This role requires an individual who is professional and who displays the drive, determination, and self-motivation to lead a team of account managers while handling a book of commercial accounts.

Responsibilities

• Direct the services of the department within the accepted principles and practices of the Hub Broker Standards.
• Supervise and direct department personnel (account managers and processors) including training, motivation, and performance appraisals.
• Work with Operations Leader and staff to develop performance management and career paths/succession planning.
• Work in conjunction with the Operations Leader in the hiring or dismissal of personnel within the commercial department.
• Monitor, balance, and coordinate workloads among department personnel to maintain a well-rounded efficient workforce by thoughtfully assigning accounts and work assignments.
• Promote account rounding and cross selling.
• Provide technical knowledge and expertise to department personnel regarding appropriate coverage.
• Support and mentor SBU Department as related to daily functions between middle market and small business.
• Oversee, with the assistance of our Quality Control department, the quality control review process to assure the production of quality work and the provision of excellent customer service.
• Work with producers to maintain synergy with Hub International corporate goals, our carrier requirements, and the needs of our clients.
• Act as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues that require policy interpretation and experience-based judgment to resolve. May also negotiate with underwriters and carriers.
• Pursue professional studies and maintain familiarity with trends in the industry and new insurance products.
• Improve/refine professional & supervisory skills through continuing education.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with company sales representatives, underwriting and claim representatives.
• Manage a commercial lines book of business with all of the duties and key responsibilities as per the Commercial Lines Account Manager job description.

Other responsibilities as assigned by Regional Operations Leader.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years commercial lines insurance experience.
• Property and Casualty Insurance License preferred; or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Supervisory experience.
• Hands on manager who enjoys mentoring.
• Thorough knowledge of commercial lines coverages and markets.
• Experience with Epic
• Experience with Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, listening, communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
