Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator I - IV

Waste Water Treatment Plant; pay commensurate with license level.
Night Shift
Schedule:
Typical shifts are 10:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m., 10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m., or 10:00 p.m.–10:00 a.m. Enjoy a schedule that includes three days off each week.
What You'll Do: A typical shift includes monitoring and inspecting wastewater treatment equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. You'll review system outputs and gauges, collect and record operational data, perform wastewater sampling and testing, and respond to emerging operational needs as they arise. You'll work closely with Maintenance staff to troubleshoot and repair equipment when necessary and communicate key operational updates to the next shift operator to support the seamless operation of a 24/7 treatment facility.
Incumbents are responsible for operating and maintaining the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP).
Reporting Structure:
Receives general supervision from the Waste Water Treatment Plant Lead Operator and higher-level management staff.
1. Performs routine maintenance on plant equipment and grounds including dusting, sweeping, mopping, changing oils, cleaning sludge drying beds, and repairing structures; adjusts and calibrates equipment as necessary.
2. Performs manual labor related to plant operations including draining and inspecting plant structures; cleaning tanks, screens, filters, pipes, and pumps; changing oils; and transferring sludge from digesters.
3. Performs basic laboratory sampling and testing as directed.
4. Monitors and maintains inventory levels and notifies the lead operator when levels are low.
5. Collects a variety of information including meter gauge readings, control panel readings, and data from computer systems.
6. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
7. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Ability to:
Work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Routinely demonstrate the City of Casper core values. Follow written and verbal instructions. Learn the principles and practices necessary in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant including the operation and maintenance of plant machinery and testing equipment. Learn to read meters and gauges correctly and to act quickly and competently. Learn to recognize and react to treatment process changes and demands.
Work according to safety standards under potentially hazardous conditions. Follow all City safety rules and procedures and immediately report all accidents/incidents or unsafe conditions to a supervisor.

Skill in:
Following written and verbal instructions. Oral and written communication sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required. No previous training or experience required. Level II - A minimum of one (1) year of experience in wastewater plant operations. Level III - A minimum of two (2) years' experience in wastewater treatment plant operations. Level IV - A minimum of three (3) years' experience in wastewater plant operations.
Licensing and
Certifications:
Possession of a valid Wyoming driver's license preferred. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Level I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification through the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), within 12 months of hire. Level II
