Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Stepdown RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Casper, Wyoming. As a member of our team, you will provide care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical settings, ensuring safe, patient‑centered care while developing your clinical expertise.
Required Qualifications- One year recent experience as a Stepdown RN.
- Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC).
- Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC).
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification.
- NIHSS Certification.
- Other certifications and licenses may be required.
A Stepdown Registered Nurse provides care to patients who are transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units. These patients require frequent monitoring and specialized nursing interventions. You will assess and manage complex patient needs, administer medications and treatments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient‑centered care.
Essential Work Functions- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, focusing on cardiac care.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients.
- Observe patients, record significant conditions, and notify supervisors or physicians of patient status and response to interventions.
- Respond to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies.
- Document nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients.
- Initiate patient education plans according to individualized needs, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients.
- Maintain confidentiality of patients and clients.
- Perform other duties assigned within the scope of practice.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills.
- Physical abilities: remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, bend.
- Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel, present a positive attitude and professionalism.
- Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move equipment when assisting with procedures.
- Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure, work occasionally under close supervision, manage irregular activity schedules and maintain concentration.
