LocationWyoming Medical Center, 249‑bed inpatient facility located in Casper, Wyoming, serving the entire state.
Position SummaryAs an RN on the Medical Unit, you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. You will be accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by yourself or by staff under your direction, utilizing specialized knowledge and judgment for patients ranging from infectious disease to nephrology on a 65‑bed unit.
CoreFunctions
- Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs, reviews patient history and diagnostics, and reports abnormal results to physicians or appropriate caregivers.
- Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on assessment data and patient/family input; sets realistic, measurable goals; reviews and revises plans as needed.
- Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health‑care team, ensuring compliance with policies, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluates the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, revises the plan of care as necessary, and tracks progress toward goals.
- Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring legibility, timeliness and policy compliance.
- Provides care based on best evidence, participates in research activities, and contributes to unit or facility leadership and education.
- Participates in professional organizations and activities to improve national nursing quality indicators and outcomes.
- May supervise staff and manage workflow of the department.
- Interacts with all staff levels, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to coordinate care, provide spiritual support, and synthesize data for effective patient management.
Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in the state of practice, or compact RN licensure; BLS certification required. Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on area of practice. Experience in the clinical area of application is desired; one year of acute‑care experience within the past 12 months is required for registry and travel acute‑care positions.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certification preferred.
