Compensation and Benefits

$10,000 hire bonus + relocation assistance. Flat rate $1.50/hour weekend shift differential and 15% night shift differential. All New Grad RN positions eligible for Banner Health’s “Total Rewards Compensation Package” including Health/Dental/Vision insurance, PTO/Sick time accrual, 401K, and additional benefits. Benefits begin on the first of the month following start date.

Program Details

The Banner Health New Nurse Experience (NNE) is a full‑time Registered Nurse position that assists new graduates in transitioning to a professional nurse. Successful candidates are placed in specific units and mentored by unit staff and educators. New Grads must remain on their NNE unit for at least 12 months and live within a reasonable commute. Most new nurses will work three 12‑hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

  • Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; reviews patient history and physical; reports abnormal results to physician(s); completes assessment and reassessments according to policy.
  • Formulates a plan of care, including discharge plan, based on assessment data and patient, family, and health team input; initiates plan of care; sets realistic, measurable goals; collaborates with multidisciplinary team; revises plan as patient needs change.
  • Implements plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team; provides care based on physician orders and nursing plan; delegates appropriately; provides supervision; promotes continuity of care through accurate communication to other caregivers.
  • Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises plan of care as needed; evaluates progress toward goals and expected outcomes; evaluates effectiveness of teaching.
  • Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensures legible, timely documentation in accordance with policy.
  • Provides care based on the best evidence available; participates in research activities; participates in unit or facility shared leadership; engages in education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel; promotes growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
  • Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes; participates in improvement of national nursing quality indicators; engages in professional organizations.
  • Supervises staff and workflow of the department in some roles.
  • Interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts and provides spiritual support when needed; synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Current, valid RN license in state of practice (or temporary/interim or compact RN licensure).
    • BLS certification required.
    • No more than 12 months of RN experience.
    • Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred, ADN accepted at select locations.
    • Current BLS card or ability to obtain certification before start date.
    • Experience in the clinical area desired.
    • For acute‑care positions, minimum one year experience in an acute‑care hospital setting within past 12 months.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Professional certification preferred.
    • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
