Job DescriptionSalary/Rate: Proposed increase pending Board approval in July 2026.
This position is for the 2026‑2027 school year only.
The role supports student health and learning by providing nursing care, health screenings, immunization record maintenance, emergency response, and health education. The School Nurse serves as a link between physicians, families, and community agencies to ensure continuity of health care for students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide acute, chronic, and routine nursing care (e.g., trachea care, tube feeding, nebulizer treatments, blood glucose and insulin administration, vision, hearing, dental, and vital sign screenings) to address health‑related barriers to learning.
- Monitor, screen, and evaluate student health parameters (vision, hearing, dental, height, weight, blood pressure, etc.) for learning support.
- Collect and document health information manually and electronically to maintain accurate student health records.
- Act as first responder during medical emergencies involving students and staff (CPR, first aid, triage, disaster preparedness).
- Conduct student health assessments and evaluations for at‑risk or special‑education students, supporting educational outcomes.
- Provide HIPAA‑compliant information to school personnel for students with diagnosed medical concerns.
- Maintain student immunization records in compliance with Wyoming Immunization Law.
- Serve as liaison between school staff, families, and community agencies to provide resources and referrals for health needs.
- Report suspected child abuse to the Department of Family Services per NCSD policy and Wyoming statutes.
- Administer prescribed student medications (e.g., insulin) following NCSD policy and guidelines.
- Train and supervise principals or designees in medication administration when the School Nurse is absent.
- Conduct health‑related presentations for students and staff on healthy lifestyles.
- Develop health objectives for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Individualized Health Plans (IHPs). Interpret medical data for students, parents, and staff.
- Participate in district and building‑level meetings (special education, at‑risk interventions) to share health data.
- Mentor nursing students and provide training opportunities.
- Assess and evaluate health needs of students, providing appropriate interventions.
- Report, evaluate, and monitor communicable and nuisance disease incidences.
- Prepare monthly reports (health, safety, nursing) for district, state, and federal compliance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the building principal or District Nursing Coordinator.
- Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse from the Wyoming State Board of Nursing.
- Candidate having a Baccalaureate degree (B.S.) in Nursing from an accredited four‑year college or university.
- A permit or certificate issued by the Wyoming Department of Education is preferred.
Job Type: Full‑time
Salary Range: $56,600 to $92,352 per year
