Registered Nurse RN Cardiovascular Operating Room
Location: Wyoming Medical Center Central, 1233 E Second St.
Shift: Full-time, 4–10 hour shifts per week; on‑call rotation.
Position SummaryThe Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse works within the CVOR team at Wyoming Medical Center, assisting physicians with advanced tasks during complex surgical procedures. The role requires hands‑on patient care, interpretation of cardiac and vascular laboratory data, and participation in the entire perioperative process.
Core FunctionsAssesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; reviews patient history, physical and diagnostics; reports abnormal results to physicians; completes assessments per policy.
Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, using assessment data and patient/family input; initiates care based on patient needs and the medical plan; collaborates with multidisciplinary team; updates plan as patient status changes.
Implements the plan through direct care, coordination, delegation, and supervision; follows physician orders and nursing care plans; delegates appropriately, supervises other personnel, and promotes continuity of care by communicating status of patients to other caregivers.
Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revises plan as needed; monitors progress toward goals and outcomes in collaboration with the team.
Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; ensures timely, legible documentation that reflects objective/subjective data, interventions, and responses to treatment; records physician orders accurately.
Provides evidence‑based care, participates in research activities, shared leadership, and education/mentoring of personnel, patients and families.
Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes; participates in professional organizations; may supervise staff and workflow when required.
Minimum Qualifications- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim or compact RN licensure).
BLS certification required. - Minimum one year RN experience in the operating room (new to surgery nurses must complete Perioperative Academy curriculum plus Banner RN Perioperative Services Competency Tool in first year).
- For Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions: minimum one year experience in an acute care hospital setting; work in acute care within past 12 months.
- For Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions: minimum one year experience in a physician practice or acute care setting.
- Maintain clinical performance competencies through annual validations.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- One year of operating room and/or cardiovascular or vascular experience preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
