General Purpose

Provide managerial and technical support to Pacifi Corp Wind Operations Environmental department. Manage compliance with applicable environmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Support mandated environmental programs and activities.

Responsibilities
  • Manage avian/wildlife field compliance for Pacifi Corp environmental services team.
  • Ensure compliance with company environmental and wildlife avian policies, procedures, permits, and associated regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with Wind Operations, Environmental team, and contractors.
  • Coordinate with wind environmental leadership team on implementation, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop or update policy and processes to ensure environmental compliance, as needed and under direction of wind environmental leadership. Assist in the development and refinement of company procedures related to wildlife surveys, compliance actions, reporting, and permit compliance.
  • Review, understand, and implement wildlife/avian permit conditions, and associated company procedures.
  • Provide the necessary leadership and support to ensure that all Federal and State permits are in place and complied with.
  • Oversee avian surveys and curtailment efforts of company biologists and contractors. Ensure work is done accurately, safely, on schedule, and on budget.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by observing safety and security procedures, and reporting/correcting potentially unsafe conditions as outlined in the Pacifi Corp Accident Prevention Manual.
  • Ensure the timely and reliable maintenance of the assigned
  • Hold supervised employees and contractors accountable to work safely, productively, and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee avian and other wildlife surveys, environmental monitoring, and avian curtailment activities at wind plant facilities.
  • Supervise internal and/or contract employees within the guidelines of the applicable working agreements and enforce.
  • Assist with preparation of Scope of Work documents necessary to obtain contractor work. Assist with invoicing, budget forecasting, and budget reporting.
  • Provide internal periodic reporting as required.
  • Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments, including Operations, and regulatory agencies.
  • Implement business objectives, strategies and plans.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines, permits, and regulations.
  • Review environmental/wildlife data collection. Assist with preparation and submittal of agency wildlife or other reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, Wildlife Biology or Environmental Sciences; or equivalent degree. A minimum of five years of experience in the wildlife field, preferably related to energy generation.
  • A minimum of 7years of experience in the wildlife field, preferably related to energy generation.
  • 7 to 10+ years experience directly related to environmental regulation.
  • 3+ years direct people management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership in dealings with Federal and state agencies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental aspects related to wind energy generation, particularly eagles and other wildlife.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local governmental environmental laws and regulations, including BGEPA, MBTA, and ESA.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation applications to gather, analyze, and present information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate expectations, provide feedback, work collaboratively with other departments, and consult with internal and external customers regarding matters which may be sensitive in nature.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize workload under pressure.
  • Ability to travel as needed for project site visits, internal trainings, audits, and meetings.
  • Ability to work safely in remote conditions.
  • Must be flexible and available in responding to after-hour emergencies.
  • Commitment and dedication to manage projects or assignments through completion.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills to develop and promote cooperative working relationships within their crew, contractors and among departments.
  • Ability to make timely decisions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from company leadership.

  • Masters degree in related field.
  • Experience working with regulated utilities.
  • Project management skills including project leadership, task identification, scheduling, and cost/expenditure identification.
