OCCUPATION: RIG OPERATOR General Description of Occupation

The Rig Operator works on a service rig and is responsible for servicing oil and gas wells. The duties include driving the crew vehicle, assisting in rigging‑up and down, and operating the rig/components as necessary. All duties are to be performed according to operating procedures to maximize safety and to efficiently perform the task.

Essential Functions of Job
  • Supervise the raising and lowering of the derrick.
  • Assist in rigging up/down equipment
  • Lifting, removing or installing the production equipment as required by the well operator or other designated company official.
  • Largely responsible for determining how the job will be performed, based on the specific conditions at the well.
  • Direct the activities of the crew as required.
  • Operating the rig and its components during all oil well drilling jobs.
  • Observe and possibly fill in for other crew members during the operation of the rig and its components as essential for safe job performance.
  • Drive crew to location, ensuring all are fit for duty.
  • Pre‑hitch, contact crew members to notify of upcoming job and meeting point.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements Skills you ll need
  • Ability to work in various, sometimes challenging, weather conditions
  • Experience and comfort working at heights
  • Must have a  can do , customer services orientated approach
  • Ability to communicate both oral and written effectively
  • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures
Licenses and Certifications Preferred
  • CDL
  • Well Control School
  • H2S, Forklift/Manlift, and CPR/1st Aid
  • Any other heavy equipment licenses or certifications
Physical Requirements of Job

Amount of each day spent:
Standing: 60% Walking: 30% Sitting: 10%

Employee works:
Inside: 10% Outside: 90%

During the job, employee will be required to:
