JobOverview
The Apprentice Electrician, under the direction of the Licensed Electrician, is responsible for the installation, start‑up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of commercial electrical equipment and systems. This position will follow the direction of the Journeyman Electrician to complete electrical maintenance and repair work.
Responsibilities- Assist the Electrician with basic tasks.
- Complete maintenance work orders on electrical equipment.
- Test malfunctioning equipment, identify defects, troubleshoot, repair equipment and replace defective parts.
- Collaborate with other electrical staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Keep personal equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshoot breakdowns; maintain supplies; perform preventive maintenance; call for repairs.
- Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read professional publications.
- 2‑4 years of electrical apprenticeship preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical codes.
- Ability to understand schematics and technical manuals.
- Willingness to embrace the company’s core values.
- Ability to pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Work outdoors most of the time.
- Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures.
- Limited working surfaces.
- Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors.
- Exposure to areas with limited visibility.
- Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to enter and exit trenches and to reach elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights).
- Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1‑50 pounds, 50% of the time monthly for required tasks.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability required if driving is involved; drivers subject to DMV background search.
