Solid Waste Baler Systems Mechanic

The City of Casper Solid Waste Facility is home to one of the region's most important pieces of infrastructure. Every day, our baler processes thousands of tons of recyclable materials, helping serve our community efficiently and sustainably. We're looking for an experienced mechanic who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, fabricating solutions, and keeping essential equipment operating safely and reliably.

If you have a strong background in industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, aggregates, or similar industries, we encourage you to apply. Prior baler experience is helpful, but not required. We are looking for someone with exceptional mechanical aptitude, welding and fabrication skills, and a passion for troubleshooting complex systems.

As the Baler Systems Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting the Solid Waste Facility's baler and related equipment. Your work will include:

• Diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and gas systems.
• Performing preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability.
• Fabricating and repairing components using welding equipment and a plasma table.
• Troubleshooting mechanical failures and identifying long-term solutions.
• Coordinating the ordering of parts and maintaining repair records.
• Maintaining forklifts, loaders, and other support equipment as needed.
• Operating specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, welders, forklifts, skid steers, and other heavy equipment.
• Working safely while supporting the City's commitment to exceptional public service.

We're looking for someone who has:

• Extensive experience diagnosing and repairing industrial mechanical equipment.
• Strong welding and metal fabrication skills.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• The ability to work independently and manage maintenance priorities.
• A commitment to workplace safety and preventative maintenance.
• Experience maintaining equipment in industries such as manufacturing, mining, recycling, heavy equipment, oil and gas, construction, or industrial processing is highly desirable.
