As our Casper, Wyoming team continues to grow, we are seeking a Field Service Lead Technician to provide technical leadership while performing advanced diagnostic, maintenance, installation, testing, and repair services on complex electromechanical equipment.

This role serves as the lead technician on field service projects, providing oversight, coordination, and technical guidance to Field Service Technicians while remaining actively involved in hands‑on work. The Field Service Lead Technician acts as the primary technical liaison between field personnel, customers, and FLANDERS management to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs work with limited supervision and serves as the technical lead on assigned field service projects.

Field Leadership
  • Lead field service projects and coordinate the daily activities of assigned technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and mentoring to Technician I, II, and III personnel.
  • Ensure work scopes are clearly understood and executed according to customer and company requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact between customers, field personnel, and FLANDERS management.
  • Communicate job progress, status updates, risks, and technical issues to the Foreman, Coordinator, or Project Manager.
  • Assist with project planning, work sequencing, and execution strategies in the field.
  • Ensure testing, reporting, and documentation requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Foster teamwork, professionalism, and positive working relationships among employees and customers.
Technical Service Responsibilities

The Field Service Lead Technician performs all duties expected of a Field Service Technician III, including advanced troubleshooting, inspection, repair, installation, and testing of electromechanical equipment.

Diagnosis and Repair
  • Review work scopes, service requirements, and work authorizations to determine project objectives.
  • Analyze and diagnose electrical and mechanical failures in motors, generators, and rotating equipment.
  • Determine whether repairs can be performed in the field or require shop services.
  • Disassemble complex electromechanical equipment while documenting component condition, configuration, and identification.
  • Install, remove, repair, align, and reassemble motors and related rotating equipment.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems.
Testing and Commissioning
  • Perform electrical and mechanical testing and accurately document results.
  • Troubleshoot known or suspected equipment issues.
  • Operate and interpret results from testing equipment, including:
    • Megger
    • DC Hi-Pot
    • AC Hi-Pot
    • Surge Tester
    • Volt-Ohm Meter (VOM)
    • Clamp-on Amp Meter
    • Feeler Gauges
  • Connect and test equipment on appropriate voltages.
  • Identify abnormalities including excessive heat, vibration, rubbing, noise, or other signs of equipment deterioration.
  • Support commissioning and startup activities as required.
Inspection and Documentation
  • Inspect components for wear, damage, and operational deficiencies.
  • Identify replacement parts and repair requirements.
  • Ensure equipment and components are properly labeled and documented during disassembly and reassembly.
  • Maintain accurate records, inspection reports, and testing documentation.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of components in accordance with company and ISO procedures.
Advanced Service Activities

Depending on customer needs and location requirements, responsibilities may include:

  • Motor circuit analysis utilizing PdMA equipment.
  • Vibration monitoring and analysis.
  • Infrared thermography inspections.
  • Electrical control component installation and troubleshooting.
