Typical Summer Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Typical Winter Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with two 12-hour rotating snow plow shifts, which may include weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities- Operation and maintenance requirements of trucks and light equipment preferred.
- Basic infrastructure and maintenance practices and procedures preferred.
- Practices, methods and materials used in construction and maintenance work preferred.
- Applicable tools and equipment utilized in the trade preferred.
- Safe work practices preferred.
- Perform manual labor.
- Be on call and respond to call-outs after hours, weekends and holidays, within the specified timeframe required by division.
- Learn, use, and care for applicable tools and equipment.
- Routinely demonstrate the City of Casper core values.
- Follow all City safety rules and procedures and immediately report all accidents/incidents or unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
- Operate a variety of less complex power-driven equipment.
- Attach auxiliary pieces of equipment to power-driven equipment.
- Learn the traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved in truck and equipment operations.
- Perform a variety of construction and maintenance tasks.
- Work independently or in a crew situation, as assigned.
- Learn the practices, methods and materials used in construction and maintenance work.
- Learn how to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and/or other technical drawings.
- Learn the geography and street system of the City.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Follow written and verbal instructions and direction.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Operating in a courteous, knowledgeable and tactful manner with staff and general public.
- Oral and written communication, sufficient to exchange or convey effective information and to receive work direction.
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of one-year experience performing maintenance work involving the operation of light and medium size equipment preferred.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Wyoming Class B Commercial Driver’s License with applicable endorsements per assigned division is preferred.
The above job description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.
This position may be eligible to naturally progress to an Equipment Operator II. Prior to any natural progression, the Department Head must justify that there is an operational need, and budget accordingly, prior to an incumbent obtaining the necessary requirements, or regularly performing work at the higher level.

Driving records are required for all new employees regardless of the position's driving requirements. If the employee has not held a Wyoming driver's license for the last three years, the employee must provide at their own initiation and expense a driving record from their previous state(s) of residence.
