Bus Driver - 260 Day

Job DescriptionThis position is 7.0 hours a day / 260 days a year. There are two positions available. $1,500 signing bonus available upon the completion of the following milestones:
- $500 after successfully obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Air Brakes, School Bus and Passenger Endorsement, and 1 month driving after the completion of obtaining full certification and benefited start date.
- $500 after 6 months after benefited start date.
- $500 after 12 months after benefited start date.
The job of Bus Driver (JC801/805/834/835) is to transport students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students before, during, and after transport, loading and unloading from buses.

This job reports to the Assistant Director of Transportation Services.
Essential Functions- Administer first aid (administer medications for special needs students) to meet immediate health care needs.
- Advise students of appropriate behavior to reinforce regulations and maintain passenger safety.
- Assist students and other passengers to provide safe loading and unloading from buses during normal transport and emergency situations.
- Attend meetings and training to maintain skills and meet the certificate requirements of a school bus driver.
- Clean interior and exterior of school buses to maintain vehicle in a safe and sanitary condition.
- Complete required mountain training to safely transport students up and down different road grades or mountains to maintain passenger safety.
- Conduct emergency evacuation drills to ensure efficiency of procedures and compliance with mandated requirements.
- Drive school bus(es) to transport passengers over scheduled routes to and from school and/or field and activity trips safely and timely.
- Inform school personnel and parents of events, policies, and/or practices for clarification of procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality on personnel and student issues to protect personal information for staff and students.
- Obey all traffic laws to adhere to federal and state regulations.
- Perform basic computer and software operations for transportation and district requirements.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe vehicle operation and compliance with guidelines.
- Prepare written materials such as field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, routing information, etc. to document activities.
- Remove snow from buses to maintain a safe environment.
- Report observations and/or incidents to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and other school personnel to provide information and/or direction.
- Supervise students and other passengers during transit to maintain safety and follow district policy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Education: High school graduation or GED
Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain CDL license with Bus Endorsement, Safety & Passenger Endorsements, Air Brake Endorsement & Evidence of Insurability
