This is complex clerical and accounting work, performing calculations and record keeping duties. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary. Accountant I (Non-Exempt):
Generally, the hiring range is $55,364-$69,205 annually. Accountant II (Exempt):
Generally, the hiring range is $62,092-$77,615 annually.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Reconciles balance sheet account activity and resolves errors and outstanding items.
- Assists Human Services staff with expenditure submissions to the State and reconciles revenue payments from the State.
- Provides year-end analyses on Human Service programs for Single Audit preparation. Assists auditors with questions relating to balance sheet accounts and Human Services accounts.
- Assists with plastic bag fee tracking, remittances, reporting and inquiries from citizens and vendors.
- Processes payment vouchers, journal entries and other administrative duties for the Finance department.
- Provides support to the finance staff acting as a backup for various functions including sales tax, accounts receivable and accounts payable. Performs vendor setup.
- Performs general ledger research in JD Edwards and purging documents in compliance with the retention policy when necessary.
- Process reconciliations to include, but not limited to, grants (during grant award cycle), retainage, etc.
- Assists grant managers with sub-recipient monitoring for grant awards as required.
- Assists with completing the annual Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA). Works closely with the County’s external auditors and any federally required governmental agency auditors for the Single Audit and compliance with Uniform Guidance.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Assists with audit schedules.
- Back-up to Accounts Payable Clerks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Accountant I
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is required.
- Two years of accounting, finance, or related experience is required.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is required.
- Three years of accounting, finance, or related experience is required.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.
