Compensation:$55300 - $77600 annually, depending on experience

Accountant I/II
to join their team!
This is a strong opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, ownership, and meaningful public-sector work. In this role, you’ll support core finance operations, help keep reporting accurate, and contribute to important audit and reconciliation work that supports a wide range of county services.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Support Human Services expenditure and revenue reporting
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and schedules
- Process payment vouchers and journal entries
- Support accounts receivable, accounts payable, and sales tax tasks
- Perform vendor setup and general ledger research
- Track grants, retainage, and related reconciliations
- Assist with SEFA completion and audit requests
- Maintain records in compliance with retention policies
- Provide backup support for finance team functions
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Two years of related experience for Accountant I
- Three years of related experience for Accountant II
- Experience in accounting or finance operations
- Ability to perform reconciliations and research financial activity
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience supporting audits or financial reporting
- Background check and fingerprinting required
Skills & Experience:
- Experience with government or public-sector accounting
- Knowledge of grant reconciliation and monitoring
- Familiarity with JD Edwards
- Experience supporting SEFA preparation
- Prior exposure to accounts payable or receivable
- Experience working with external auditors
- Understanding of retention and records management practices
