About this opportunityOwen-Ames-Kimball Co. is hiring an Operations Manager based in our Castle Rock, CO office to play a critical role in delivering successful commercial construction projects. In this leadership position, you will bridge the gap between preconstruction and field execution by developing comprehensive project startup plans, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring projects are positioned for seamless delivery from day one.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong background in commercial construction operations, project planning, scheduling, constructability reviews, and field leadership. You will collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, preconstruction teams, design partners, subcontractors, and clients to drive operational excellence and create a strong foundation for project success.
What you’ll do- Lead front-end project planning, including master schedules, logistics plans, phasing strategies, and procurement plans.
- Conduct constructability reviews to identify risks, design gaps, sequencing challenges, and operational concerns.
- Review project documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure scope clarity and execution readiness.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules that align design, procurement, labor, and client requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Preconstruction teams to support successful project startup and mobilization.
- Evaluate subcontractor qualifications and support strategic partner selection during preconstruction.
- Identify, communicate, and help mitigate project risks before construction begins.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and support planning, logistics, and operational decision‑making.
- Drive continuous improvement by promoting best practices and strengthening front‑end processes.
- Ensure a seamless transition from preconstruction to field operations through effective coordination and communication.
- 5-7+ years of commercial construction leadership experience as a Senior Project Manager, Senior Superintendent, or similar role.
- Proven expertise in preconstruction planning, constructability reviews, scheduling, and procurement strategy.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction operations, sequencing, logistics, and risk management.
- Experience developing and managing comprehensive project startup and execution plans.
- Ability to analyze plans, specifications, and site conditions to identify potential challenges and solutions.
Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders. - Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with clients, design partners, subcontractors, and field teams.
- Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
