Responsible for providing assistance to special education teachers. Assists in the instruction, medical, and health needs of special education students. Provides some clerical support to teachers. May provide assistance with a variety of daily functions such as toileting, feeding, and life skills instruction. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community members and school clientele. Essential physical requirements include occasional lifting of forty to seventy pounds, frequent bending, standing, sitting, and walking, and occasional reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, and standing.
Ability to run short distances.
Responsibilities include creating and assembling instructional materials such as bulletin boards, performing other related duties as assigned or requested, documenting health-related services in the Designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program, supporting Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals with special education students and assisting with daily classroom or lab activities, maintaining some student records, collaborating and consulting with special education team and other specialists on various activities, planning, and resource allocations for special education students, communicating with parents and other school personnel as needed, providing clerical support for special education teachers which may include preparation of special reports, providing assistance in some therapeutic activities such as speech, massage, and physical therapy, administering medication to students and performing a variety of medical procedures, supervising students in non-classroom settings, assisting and escorting students, including transferring to and from buses, and assisting students with a variety of daily functions, such as feeding, toileting, etc.

Full Salary Range: $19.84 USD - $19.84 USD Hourly. All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
