Water Resources Engineer
Salary Range: $77,001., Annually, DOQ/E
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Performs hydrologic, hydrogeologic, and water supply analyses to support long-term planning, drought resiliency, and operational decision-making; interprets data and applies engineering principles to evaluate aquifer and system performance.
* Assists in the evaluation and management of the Town's integrated water supply portfolio, including groundwater, renewable supplies, and reuse systems; supports analysis used to inform water supply planning and implementation strategies.
* Applies engineering and technical principles to support water resources infrastructure projects, including well siting, drilling, testing, equipping, rehabilitation, and replacement; aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) systems; raw water conveyance systems; pumping systems; transmission pipelines; and diversion structures.
* Supports the design and construction of water resources Capital Improvement Projects (CIP); coordinates with project managers, consultants, contractors, and Town staff to assist in project execution, compliance, and documentation.
* Develops, maintains, and utilizes data systems, databases, and analytical tools to monitor groundwater levels, evaluate aquifer performance, and support data-driven planning and decision-making.
* May oversee or provide technical direction for field data collection, monitoring, and coordination activities performed by support staff.
* Assists in the implementation and administration of water rights, including coordination with legal counsel and regulatory agencies; applies understanding of augmentation plans, exchanges, storage, and water rights decrees.
* Prepares technical memoranda, reports, mapping, and presentations; communicates technical information clearly to internal staff, leadership, boards, and the public.
* Reviews engineering plans, technical reports, and development submittals for compliance with Town standards, regulatory requirements, and consistency with water resources planning objectives.
* Coordinates with internal departments, developers, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies; supports resolution of technical issues related to water resources planning, permitting, and infrastructure.
* Supports long-range planning efforts, including water resources master planning and utility system planning; evaluates infrastructure needs to support growth, development, and operational requirements.
* Responds to internal and external inquiries regarding water resources systems, projects, and water rights; provides accurate technical information and assists in issue resolution.
* Provides technical support to operations staff; evaluates system performance and provides recommendations related to infrastructure, system optimization, and timing of water supply use.
* Performs other duties as assigned or required.
