Position
Purpose:
The FOSSAssistant Manager (AM)position plays a key role in the school leadership team in organizing and executing all tasks throughout the office, retail, and reception areas of the school, plus providing mentorship to the team. They manage the administrative functions such as scheduling, tracking revenue targets and transactions, developing direct reports, and ensuring the high quality of our Swim Path curriculum while ensuring optimal pool and facility standards.
The FOSS Assistant Manager learning path is an in-depth program designed to provide exposure to facets of managing a school through targeted training and development courses and hands on learning. Focus areas include operational and financial performance, employee engagement, customer service, and other general school management so incumbents can transition into a future leadership role. This role is designed both for emerging leaders and those transiting their career to a new industry.
Essential Job Functions as an Assistant Manager:
The following essential functions represent the primary work performed; however, the AM may be asked to assist with projects or tasks not detailed here but fall within the scope of this role. AM’s will train to learn key roles including Swim Teacher, Customer Support Service, Teacher Assistant, Supervisor and Assistant Manager. Through these rotations, AM’s will learn to manage FOSS methods and processes and build strengths in competencies such as business acumen, time management, organizational execution, and accountability, and developing, motivating, and managing talent.
Leadership& Instructor Development
- Coach and counsel (manage) non-exempt personnel regarding job performance, including compliance with FOSS policies, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Build trusted and effective relationships to advance an organizational culture that lives the FOSS purpose and values.
- Collaborate with school leaders regarding personnel training and ensure school staff personnel are current on all training requirements.
- Oversee management of class enrollments, enrollment process, customer engagement initiatives, and other operating practices.
- Support General Manager to implement financial goals for school, including lesson and retail revenue, controllable expenses, staffing levels, inventory management, and other aspects of the school’s financial success, and to meet or exceed site KPIs.
- Be a FOSS Brand Ambassador.
- Build relationships with customers to create loyalty and excitement for the FOSS brand, purpose, programming, and community.
- Ensure facility cleanliness standards are satisfied.
- Two (2) years of experience in a supervisor role or one year of employment at FOSS preferred, not required.
- Must obtain American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification within the first 90 daysof employment, be required to adhere to American Red Cross standards outlined in the certification requirements and maintain an active certificate throughout tenure in the role. Please note that FOSS will pay the costs for both the initial and renewal certifications.
- Experience in retail, health and fitness, restaurant, or other related experience preferred.
- Self-motivated with a desire to achieve results and excel individually and as a team.
- Availability to workdays, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information, possess a high degree of personal integrity and sound judgment.
