Position: Electrician I, II or III

Electrician I, II or III

Responsible for learning how to repair, maintain and install electrical systems and equipment, while ensuring the work is in accordance with the current National Electrical Code (NEC). Work under direct supervision, take constructive criticism while learning the electrical trade, and develop good community relations with various community and school clientele.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent sitting and standing.
  • Occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Regularly required to move around workplace, manipulating and handling, reaching and detecting objects and equipment, reaching for objects and equipment while simultaneously assisting balancing, positioning, lifting.
  • Required to work occasionally at heights of up to 40 feet.
Minimum Experience Requirement
  • 0-4 years of job related experience.
  • Applicants must be registered for, or attending, an electrical apprenticeship school accredited by the Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Apprenticeship (OA) that meets the minimum requirements of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
Minimum Education Or Formal Training
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Expected to obtain a minimum of 288 hours of electrical training in grounding/bonding, NEC code changes, wiring methods, theory/calculations as required by DORA within 4 years of hire date.
  • Expected to obtain a minimum of 10 hours of OSHA curriculum-based safety training within 4 years of hire date.
  • Expected to pass the Journeyman Electrical exam at the end of the required 8,000 hours of on the job training.
  • 0-4 Years Electrical Apprenticeship Trade School; provide documentation if necessary.
  • Proficiency in Algebra preferred.
  • Must apply to the next available Apprenticeship school year (School is conducted off site, one night a week for 36 weeks/year, four hours a night for four years).
Requirements
  • Four weeks on-call required annually.
Responsibilities
  • Work with constant supervision throughout the four year Apprenticeship Program.
  • Maintain proper care of district-provided tools, equipment, vehicles, etc.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Certifications
  • Apprentice Electrician
    - Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
  • Apprentice Electrician License
    - Colorado Department of Regulatory Agency (DORA).
  • Must obtain an Electrical Apprentice License within one week of hire date.
  • Previous year’s transcripts with an accredited Apprenticeship Program, if applicable.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License
    - Colorado Department of Revenue.
Education

High School or Equivalent

Skills
  • Ability to perform job duties with direct supervision.

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of low and high voltage circuitry.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Maintain all requirements for the Apprenticeship Program.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and demonstrate ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

  • Maintains a generally positive attitude.
  • Observes all district policies and procedures.
