Position: Specials (MUSIC) Special Education Paraprofessional

The Greater Cincinnati School Application Consortium is seeking a Special Education Music Paraprofessional to support students with special needs in grades K-8.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional and behavioral support and assistance to classroom teachers and students assigned to a team in a K-8 setting.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and sensory breaks.
  • Record student progress on data sheets, goal sheets, and daily logs to assist the teacher and Behavior Coordinator.
  • Assist with educational classroom needs and student behavior plans.
  • Work collaboratively with a school-based team.
Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (required); some college or AA degree desirable.

Experience
  • Must possess a foundational knowledge and understanding of music concepts, rhythm, instruction, and creative expression.
  • 1 year of accepted experience working with children with autism or other special needs, 2 years preferred.
  • Special education experience: 1 year preferred.
  • Experience with a social-communication classroom TEACCH-style program or a structured-style room for children with autism and/or special needs is preferred.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with both families & staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a positive, energetic attitude.
