Outline of role
We are looking for an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer to join our Mechanical & Electrical team. Reporting to the Air Conditioning Project Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, fault-finding, commissioning and decommissioning of air conditioning and heat pump systems across commercial and live retail environments nationwide.
This is a hands‑on role requiring a strong technical background, excellent problem‑solving skills and a commitment to delivering high‑quality work safely and efficiently. You will work closely with project teams, clients, suppliers and other trades to ensure projects are completed to the highest standards from initial installation through to final handover.
Main responsibilities
- Install, replace and commission split, multi‑split, VRF/VRV, packaged air conditioning and air source heat pump systems.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on commercial air conditioning equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, refrigeration, electrical and control system faults.
- Complete brazing, pressure testing, evacuation, refrigerant charging, recovery and leak detection activities.
- Commission systems in accordance with manufacturer requirements and project specifications.
- Complete service reports, commissioning records, F‑Gas documentation and photographic records accurately and on time.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation, company procedures, RAMS and client requirements.
- Coordinate with project teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Support client demonstrations and provide clear operational guidance during handover.
- Identify and communicate technical issues, variations and additional works promptly.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, customer service and professionalism in live operational environments.
Knowledge and experience required
- Proven experience installing, servicing and fault‑finding commercial air conditioning and heat pump systems.
- Experience working with Mitsubishi Electric and Daikin equipment.
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration pipework, brazing, pressure testing, evacuation, charging, recovery and leak detection.
- Experience commissioning VRF/VRV systems and using manufacturer diagnostic tools.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications and fault codes.
- Understanding of construction health and safety requirements, permits, RAMS and safe isolation procedures.
- Experience completing technical reports and service documentation accurately.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Experience with in live retail, hospitality, education or other business‑critical environments would be advantageous.
- Experience with Toshiba, Panasonic, Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Clade, Eco Airbox or similar systems would be beneficial.
