Facilitator

Location: Castro Valley, CA

Position Type: Part-Time (10-20 hours per week)

Schedule: Weekdays (3:00 PM - 7:00 PM) | Weekends (10:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

About Steamoji

Steamoji is an innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) academy designed to help kids build skills for the future through hands-on learning, design thinking, and cutting-edge technology. Our brand-new Castro Valley location is currently in development and opening soon! We are seeking an energetic, adaptable, and community-driven leader to help build our academy from the ground up.

Role Overview

We are seeking a friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic Facilitator to guide young apprentices through hands-on STEAM missions. In this role, you will foster a safe, fun, and supportive environment where children feel empowered to experiment, build problem-solving skills, and develop a lasting growth mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Delivery: Review instructional videos before each session and assist with the deployment of Steamoji projects.
  • Small-Group Mentorship: Work directly with groups of 4-6 apprentices, guiding them through the maker process and helping them overcome obstacles.
  • Safety & Tool Management: Assist apprentices with fabrication tools, physical computing kits, and equipment while ensuring strict safety protocols are followed.
  • Parent Communication: Capture video artifacts of apprentice progress and provide constructive feedback to parents.
  • Culture & Environment: Embody Steamoji's core values to maintain an energetic, inspiring, and collaborative learning space.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Background: High school or college/university student (or equivalent) looking for a rewarding part-time position working with youth.
  • Tech Aptitude: Basic knowledge of coding and technology, or a strong ability and willingness to learn basic technological concepts quickly.
  • Youth

    Experience:

    Prior experience working with, teaching, or mentoring children.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills with both kids and parents.
  • Personal Attributes: High energy, approachable, adaptable, and a strong team player.
