Youth Advocate (Lena’s House) – Full-Time, In-Person

Location:

Hayward, CA. 40 hours per week. Non-Exempt.

Ruby's Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is a nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy and connection. Services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, substance recovery, and wrap-around services. All programs are trauma-sensitive and client-centered and provided at no cost to clients. Programs are low barrier.

RP is led by survivors with a focus on reflection, innovation, and connection. We foster relationships in our direct service work and internal culture, valuing the voices of those most impacted by violence to interrupt the cycle and support safety, unity, and trust.

You are committed to preventing interpersonal violence and serving diverse populations with sensitivity. You have strong interpersonal skills, relationship-building techniques, and a survivor-centered approach. Experience with immigrant/Latinx communities and an ability to work in fast-paced environments are desired. You work well both collaboratively and independently, manage time effectively, and can meet deadlines while handling multiple time-sensitive projects. You are flexible, proactive, and capable of handling emergencies as part of a team.

You have either lived or professional experience with immigrant communities and can relate to the challenges newcomers face. You are compassionate, dedicated, and eager to contribute to this specific community.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent, and either

• Two years of full-time experience serving the target population or equivalent education/experience as determined by CDSS, or
• Two years’ experience as a member of social work staff in a group home or short-term residential therapeutic program

• 21 years of age or older
• Demonstrated integrity and character appropriate for care provision
• Relevant experience/qualifications to work with the target population and special needs
• Proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases (Varicella, Tdap, Influenza) and full vaccination against COVID-19 (where applicable)
• No history of child abuse/neglect or violence-related convictions; not under disqualifying adjudication
• State-mandated 40-hour Domestic Violence counselor certification (or will complete after hire)
• Ability to lift 25 lbs
• Valid CA driver’s license, proof of insurance, and agency approval to drive
• Ability to complete background check and Live Scan; meet Community Care Licensing requirements

Preferred:

• Experience in child welfare/case management, crisis intervention, peer counseling
• Experience with survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence
• Experience working with immigrant communities
• Experience delivering direct services in a residential setting
• Understanding trauma-sensitive care and serving diverse populations and languages related to family dynamics

This is a 100% in-person role. Schedule is typically Monday to Friday, 7am–3pm. On-site presence is required during scheduled shifts. Must be able to stand for long periods and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds. Subjects to interruptions; ability to multitask and manage stress. Local travel within the greater Bay Area may be required.

Pay: $29.87 per hour (non-exempt).
