Main Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is to deliver excellent customer service to our patients, review, analyze patient admissions and transfers, and ensure compliance with the Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), state and federal regulations. This role will coordinate and expedite admission of patients who are either court‑ordered or voluntary and will collect patient information necessary to complete the initial admission or readmission.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses. - Experience:
Three years as a Registered Nurse, including one year in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity and two years in a psychiatric setting. - Substitutions:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field may substitute for one year of the required psychiatric experience.
- Master’s degree in Nursing or a health‑related field may substitute for the required psychiatric experience.
- U.S. Armed Forces military service as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisory and leadership experience in a psychiatric/behavioral health setting.
- Experience with regulatory and legal standards governing patient admissions.
- Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) training.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, or a current multi‑state license in primary states of residence.
- Motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Employees must provide a phone number for call‑in purposes.
- Employees are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09.
