Located in the northern portion of the Phoenix Metropolitan area, the Town of Cave Creek is a small town that is proud of its Western heritage. We pride ourselves on being innovative, inclusive, and dedicated to providing high quality water services to our customers. The Utilities Department manages the water treatment and distribution systems for Cave Creek. The Town also operates the Desert Hills Water System, which supplies water to an unincorporated area west of Town limits.
Currently there are just under 5,000 active water accounts in both water systems.

We are seeking a Utility Worker to perform a variety of manual and semi-skilled technical duties and tasks related to the installation, maintenance, repairing and operation of the Town's water and wastewater systems. This is accomplished by installing, repairing, or replacing service lines, water meters, hydrants, valves, and main lines. Assists in blue-staking of utility assets and maintenance or repairs related to the sewer collection system.
Reads water meters and responds to customer service requests. Works closely with other divisions, departments, outside public and private agencies, and the general public. This position has no supervisory responsibilities and works under the general direction of the Field Operations Supervisor. This position will normally have a 40 hour per week work schedule, coordinated with the assigned Supervisor, but will also be required to be part of the on-call rotation for the division and respond to emergency call-backs.

Utility Workers will be required to be on an On-Call Rotation that may require work outside of the normal schedule. This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation. Essential functions and responsibilities include:
- Receive direction from Field Operations Supervisor to perform activities associated with water distribution system maintenance & repair.
- Installing, repairing, or replacing service lines, water meters, hydrants, valves and main lines.
- Assist in blue staking of utility assists.
- Read water meters and respond to customer service requests.
- Operate and maintain a variety of specialized equipment including boring equipment, service/crane truck, tapping equipment, backhoe, loader, dump truck, pick-up, hand tools, jackhammers, whackers, digging bars, and shovels.
- Assist with maintenance and repairs related to the sewer collection system.
- Comply with safety standards, regulations, and policies. Must follow OSHA and Town safety standards including the use and wear of respirators, hard hats, protective clothing/eyewear/footwear, and other related materials or equipment. Confined space entry.
- Required to be on call 24 hours on an emergency basis; weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Perform other related duties as assigned; may be called upon to assist other divisions within the Town
Candidates for a Level I Utility Worker must possess the following requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0-2 years or more of experience in the field of water quality or water operations.
