Part-Time HVAC & Refrigeration Adjunct - Teach & Impact

School of BTT Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)

Virginia Western Community College is seeking an experienced, part‑time Adjunct Faculty member to teach courses in the School of Business, Technology and Trades (BTT). The position is appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis and is designed for individuals who can maintain currency in their discipline, contribute to the department, and deliver quality instruction to a diverse student body.

• Develop, deliver, and assess course content for air conditioning and refrigeration classes.
• Prepare syllabi, assignments, exams, and educational materials in accordance with program standards.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends and instructional best practices.
• Participate in departmental meetings and communications.
• Assist in other duties as assigned, including emergency assistance on the Governor’s declaration if required.

• High school diploma with five (5) years of current occupational experience in air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and EPA 608 Universal certification.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to design curricula, develop learning strategies, and create assessments.
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and varying abilities.
• Formal education from a certified HVAC program or higher, or apprenticeship from an accredited school, is preferred.
• Other nationally recognized industry certifications are a plus.
