Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time) – Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

Location:

Friday evening and Saturday day classes at Virginia Western Community College, Roanoke, VA.

• Teach Air Conditioning and Refrigeration course(s).
• Maintain currency in teaching disciplines and trends in community college education.
• Write syllabi, exams, learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
• Participate in departmental communication.
• Assist agency or state government in emergency events as required.

• High school diploma with five years of current occupational experience in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, heating, and ventilation.
• EPA 608 Universal certification.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong written communication: ability to write syllabi and exams.
• Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
• Formal education from a certificate or higher degree program, or an apprenticeship in HVAC from an accredited school – preferred.
• Possession of other nationally recognized industry certifications – additional advantage.

Per credit hour rate determined based on qualifications. Positions are appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis as needed. Classes are held Friday evening and Saturday day.
