School of BTT Electrical Wiring Adjunct Faculty (Part‑Time)
Virginia Western Community College is seeking a part‑time adjunct faculty member in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT) to teach college‑level courses in electrical wiring. The position is appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis as needed. Courses include Home Electric Power, Practical Electricity I–II, and National Electric Code. The instructor will deliver instruction in‑person on campus as well as hybrid or distance learning/online formats.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver course material, including syllabi, lectures, labs, and assessments.
- Maintain current knowledge in electrical wiring and community college instructional practices.
- Engage students from diverse backgrounds and with varying abilities.
- Participate in departmental communication and meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, and assist personnel during emergencies as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five years of occupational experience in the electrical field.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to write syllabi, exams, and develop curriculum and assessments.
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
Hours and days vary based on course offerings and enrollment. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on an as‑needed, course‑by‑course, semester basis.
Pay$793 – $1,278 per credit hour; faculty rank determined when credentialed.
LocationVirginia Western Community College, 12 Washington Boulevard, Salem, VA 24153. Courses are taught on the main campus in Salem and may include hybrid or online instruction.
