Accounting Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)

Location:
Virginia Western Community College, Roanoke, VA
- Teach college-level accounting courses, including Principles and Intermediate Accounting, Payroll and Computerized Accounting, and Taxation.
- Develop and update course syllabi, exams, learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Maintain currency in teaching disciplines and evolving trends in community college education.
- Participate in departmental communication and community college teaching activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in accounting or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in accounting.
- Two years recent occupational experience in accounting, including financial or managerial accounting, payroll, taxation, and proficiency with Quick Books.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to write syllabi, exams, develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Ability to work with students of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
- MOS Excel 2010 or later certification and Intuit Quick Books certification.
- Experience using technology in the classroom and teaching online.
- Experience teaching in a community college setting.
Courses will be taught in‑person on campus or via distance learning/online. Hours and days vary based on course offerings and enrollment; positions are appointed on a semester basis.
CompensationPay: $793 – $1,278 per credit hour; faculty rank determined when credentialed.
