Accounting Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)

Location:

Virginia Western Community College, Roanoke, VA

• Teach college-level accounting courses, including Principles and Intermediate Accounting, Payroll and Computerized Accounting, and Taxation.
• Develop and update course syllabi, exams, learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Maintain currency in teaching disciplines and evolving trends in community college education.
• Participate in departmental communication and community college teaching activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in accounting or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in accounting.
• Two years recent occupational experience in accounting, including financial or managerial accounting, payroll, taxation, and proficiency with Quick Books.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to write syllabi, exams, develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Ability to work with students of diverse abilities and backgrounds.

• MOS Excel 2010 or later certification and Intuit Quick Books certification.
• Experience using technology in the classroom and teaching online.
• Experience teaching in a community college setting.

Courses will be taught in‑person on campus or via distance learning/online. Hours and days vary based on course offerings and enrollment; positions are appointed on a semester basis.

Pay: $793 – $1,278 per credit hour; faculty rank determined when credentialed.
