Job Description
Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for part‑time Horticulture Adjunct Faculty in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT). Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course‑by‑course basis, as needed.
Responsibilities- Teach college‑level courses on campus, in hybrid, or online, in areas such as Plant Propagation, Landscape Plants, Pest Management, Soils, Greenhouse Management and Horticulture Business Management.
- Write syllabi, exams, and assessments; develop learning strategies and curriculum.
- Maintain currency in horticulture discipline and in community‑college education trends.
- Participate in departmental communication and collaborate with colleagues.
- Adhere to campus policies and contribute to institutional goals.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years recent occupational experience in horticulture.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to write syllabi and exams; develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Effective work with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Teaching experience at the college level.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related field.
