Surgical Technology Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)
Virginia Western Community College is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to provide classroom instruction in the Surgical Technology Program for the School of Health Professions, beginning Fall 2026 (August 2026). The position is part‑time and appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver curriculum for AAS Surgical Technology courses.
- Teach and evaluate students, providing clinical instruction and assessment.
- Maintain currency in the teaching discipline and stay current with community college education trends.
- Assist with program development and other duties as assigned.
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree from an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience within the past 5 years.
- Experience providing clinical instruction in an AAS Surgical Technology Program.
- Current CPR BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Surgical Technology or comparable field.
- Prior teaching experience in a Surgical Technology Program.
- Experience using technology in the classroom.
$793 – $1,278 per credit hour; faculty rank determined upon credentialing.
Work Schedule & LocationHours and days vary based on course offerings and enrollment. Positions are located on the Virginia Western campus in Roanoke, VA.
