Advanced Practice Provider; NP or PA – Outpatient Urology

Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide comprehensive evaluation and management of patients in the outpatient Urology clinic. The APP will see a combination of new and established patients and work closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to develop individualized treatment plans for patients with urologic conditions.

• Evaluate and manage new and established patients in the outpatient Urology clinic.
• Obtain comprehensive medical histories, perform physical examinations, and assess patient symptoms.
• Develop treatment recommendations and management plans for a variety of urologic conditions.
• Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing and imaging results.
• Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and follow‑up care.
• Collaborate with urologists and other members of the healthcare team to deliver coordinated, high‑quality patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support Carilion Clinic's commitment to exceptional patient care.

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current Virginia licensure (or eligibility for licensure).
• Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Previous urology or surgical specialty experience preferred but not required.
• Required:
  
  Current Basic Life Support (BLS); PALS/NPR and ACLS as required for the position.
• Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic, the Virginia Board of Medicine or Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies.
• Computer literacy required for electronic medical record systems.
