- Produce Content:
Assist with pre-production, live shoots, and video/photo editing for college-wide projects. - Capture Campus Life & Events:
Film footage or take photos of Southwest Technical College events, student activities, academic programs, and promotional initiatives. - Manage On-Site Production:
Operate camera, audio, and lighting equipment on location across campus environments. - Edit Promotional Content:
Transform raw video and audio footage into polished, engaging video assets for college marketing channels. - Apply Branding & Quality Control:
Incorporate graphics, music, color grading, and standard branding guidelines with strong attention to detail. - Project Preparation:
Assist with planning shot lists, visual concepts, lighting setups, and schedules prior to video shoots. - Align Content Strategy:
Help conceptualize video projects that showcase specific technical programs and college stories. - Marketing Team Alignment:
Work under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and Multimedia & Marketing Specialist to meet project goals and project deadlines. - Incorporate Creative Feedback:
Participate in review sessions and iterate on video and photo edits in response to team input. - Collaborate:
Work side-by-side with the Multimedia & Marketing Specialist to bring creative concepts to life. - All other duties as assigned.
To perform at a proficient level and to be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:
- Education: Currently enrolled as a student in Filmmaking or a related field.
- Specialized Knowledge/
Skills:- A passion for visual storytelling, videography, and editing.
- Foundational understanding of film and photography
- Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills and openness to feedback.
- Portfolio or samples of film & photography work (class projects welcome and encouraged).
- Intermediate to expert level of experience operating Canon camera gear and standard shooting equipment.
- Reliable time-management skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Experience: Prior professional film/videography experience is preferred, but not required.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check.
- Probationary Period: Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of a six (6) month probationary period.
Job Summary:
Southwest Technical College is seeking a creative, motivated Film/Videography Student Intern to join our Marketing Team. In this hands-on role, you will assist with planning, shooting, and editing visual content that highlights college programs, campus events, and key initiatives. Working closely with our Multimedia & Marketing Specialist, you’ll gain real-world professional experience, build a standout portfolio, and learn how to manage production workflows in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires on-site attendance; remote work is not available.
Conventional Educational Environment. In some programs, employees may occasionally be exposed to cleaning chemicals and the hazards associated with their respective industry equipment.
