North Elementary School is seeking a Part Time Level II Special Education Paraprofessional to work 27.5 hours a week.
This position will remain open until filled.
Responsibilities- The Paraprofessional is under the direction of the Special Education Teacher to provide education and related services to students with disabilities. The position may require lifting and supporting students, changing protective clothing, implementing behavior management plans, operating adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, etc.), and communicating effectively with students and staff.
- Provides instructional support to students and student groups to reinforce and follow up learning activities.
- Assists in observing and recording behavior patterns and follows appropriate techniques to reinforce acceptable behavior.
- Assists certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
- Assists in procedures related to physical and medical needs.
- May assist students in learning self-care techniques, including toilet training, bathing and personal cleanliness; may assist in diapering, toilet training, feeding, and other self-help skills if needed.
- Participates in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for classroom management.
- Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
- Supervises students in all areas of the school.
- Operates various types of office equipment such as computers and copy machines.
- Maintains regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance.
- Monitors students inside and outside of the building during lunch hour.
- Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google Docs and check email frequently. Willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
- Ability to follow directions and work under the supervision of a licensed Special Education Teacher.
- Comfort working with students with disabilities and contributing to a positive learning environment.
- Willingness to learn applicable computer systems and software used by the district.
