The Department of Computer Science and Cybersecurity (CSCY) at Southern Utah University (SUU) invites applications for two full‑time, or non‑tenure‑track (NTT) or tenure‑track (TT) faculty positions at the lecturer, assistant, or associate professor levels to begin August 2026.
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. or DSc (for tenure‑track) or MS degree (for non‑tenure‑track) in Cybersecurity or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment and ability to deliver high‑quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, maintain an active research agenda (tenure‑track only), and engage in meaningful service to the department, college, and university. Position includes benefits that may include relocation expenses for hired candidates for on‑site employment.

Essential Functions- SUU is primarily a teaching institution; thus, the successful candidate will have a strong record of teaching and will be given an opportunity to demonstrate his/her teaching skill in an on‑campus visit.
- Primary responsibilities center around providing a quality educational experience in cybersecurity courses in a student‑centered learning environment.
- Additional responsibilities include:
- Curriculum development.
- Scholarly activity.
- Active participation on service committees.
- Other duties as needed to support a robust and dynamic environment for student learning and support the continuance of the programs’ accreditation.
- Primary responsibilities include teaching a variety of in‑person cybersecurity courses in a student‑centered environment.
- Most teaching will be at the undergraduate level, but regular opportunities to teach graduate courses (online) are expected.
- Ability to teach general information technology, Cisco and other networking, and Oracle in addition to cybersecurity is a plus.
- Main course load will involve teaching cybersecurity courses, including system security fundamentals, defensive security, penetration testing, information assurance, plus other courses as needed.
- Additional teaching responsibilities include the development and use of effective teaching strategies and curriculum development.
- Tenure‑track faculty teach 24 credits per year (typically 4 courses per semester). Non‑tenure‑track teach 30 credits per year (typically 5 courses per semester).
Although we are primarily a teaching institution, tenure‑track faculty do have an expectation to engage collaboratively with students and/or peers on scholarly activity that generates peer‑reviewed publications.
- Establish and maintain an active and sustained research agenda in Cybersecurity or a closely related computing field, leading to peer‑reviewed publications.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research projects.
- Seek external funding opportunities to support scholarly activities.
- Time toward tenure and rank advancement may be granted based upon experience.
- Service activities include active participation and collaboration with the department to enhance a robust Cybersecurity curriculum based upon industry standards as communicated by an Industry Advisory Board (IAB).
- Participation in and support of the continuance of the program accreditation within the Department (including ABET and NCAE‑C designation) and other committee work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D., DSc (Tenure Track) or MS (Non‑Tenure Track) degree in Cybersecurity or a related field.
- Commitment and ability to deliver quality teaching.
- Evidence of research/scholarly activity (Tenure Track only).
- Effective communication and ability to interact positively with faculty, staff, and students.
