Writing Tutor

Description:

Writing center tutors are part of a dynamic, cross-curricular learning community. At the writing center, we welcome diverse and enthusiastic students who are willing to learn and to mentor their peers as they work through the writing process.
Responsibilities:

Work as a peer writing tutor, assisting students at any stage of the writing process.
Staff the receptionist desk as needed.
Collaborate with other tutors to plan and execute writing center activities and projects as needed.
Complete new tutor trainings.
Attend monthly staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Strong communication skills (including writing and speaking).
Ability to mentor a variety of writing styles from various disciplines.
Completion of English 1010 and English 2010, preferably with a grade of A or A-.
3.0 overall GPA required .

Major, Class Status (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate), and Overall GPA, anticipated graduation date.
A cover letter.
A writing sample, preferably an academic paper that shows proficiency in using a specific style guide, such as APA or MLA.
REQUEST two professors to send an email recommendation in your behalf to rosalyneves.
