Part Time Accompanist Choir

Part-Time Accompanist Paraprofessional - Cedar Middle School

Cedar Middle School is seeking a Part-Time Accompanist Paraprofessional to work 15 hours per week beginning in August for the  school year.

The part-time accompanist is under the supervision of the School Principal and Music teacher. The pianist is responsible for providing accompanying music for choir classes, concerts, festivals, and other performances, traveling with the choirs as needed, and working with a section or small group of students throughout the school year.

• Provide piano accompaniment for choir classes at various levels of difficulty
• Provide accompaniment for concerts, festivals, and other performances
• Travel with the choirs as needed
• Work with sectionals and small student groups
• Provide instructional support assistance to students and student groups
• Participate in the development, maintenance and carrying out of systems for small group management
• Provide guidelines and expectations to students in small groups so that work gets done
• Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students
• Operate various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
• Comply with established district policies and procedures
• Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each pupil
• Encourage students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible

• Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required
• Maintain care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse
• Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google Docs and check email frequently, and be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed
