Job Summary:

The Secondary Math/Science Teacher is responsible for designing and implementing engaging, standards-aligned instruction in mathematics and/or science for secondary school students. The teacher provides instruction, monitors student progress, maintains a positive classroom environment, and collaborates with students, families, and school staff to support student success.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Plan and develop engaging, age-appropriate Math and Science courses in accordance with school curriculum guidelines and educational best practices.
  • Design and deliver lessons in mathematics and science using a variety of instructional methods to support different learning needs.
  • Teach mathematical concepts, problem-solving, scientific concepts, inquiry, experimentation, and critical thinking as appropriate to assigned courses.
  • Prepare lesson materials, assignments, projects, and assessments; evaluate and grade student work.
  • Monitor student progress and provide appropriate academic and behavioral support, intervention, or enrichment.
  • Discuss academic difficulties or behavioral concerns with students and provide appropriate guidance.
  • Communicate student progress and concerns professionally with parents, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students and families.
  • Monitor students in the classroom, hallways, study periods, lunchrooms, school grounds, and educational trips as assigned.
  • Maintain required student records, attendance records, incident reports, and other documentation.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with applicable school and state requirements.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional development, workshops, and other training opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of current research, developments, and best practices in secondary mathematics and science education.
  • May sponsor student activities, organizations, or other extracurricular activities.
  • Enforce safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Schedule:

Typical schedule is M, T, F: 7:45 am - 4:15 pm MST, W, Th: 7:45 am - 4:30 pm MST (hours may vary based on campus).

Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of secondary education pedagogy and best practices
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics and/or science concepts appropriate for secondary education
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned Math and/or Science lessons using a variety of teaching methods
  • Strong classroom management, supervisory, and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professionalism in high-stress situations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Creative analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or related software
  • Ability to work effectively with secondary school-aged students and adapt instruction to their developmental needs
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Appropriate state accreditation and teaching license required.
  • Appropriate subject-area endorsement or qualification in Mathematics and/or Science required.
  • Ongoing maintenance of required professional courses, training, and in-service requirements.
  • Prior teaching experience is highly preferred.
  • Specialized training in teaching secondary school-aged students is preferred.
  • Master's degree is highly preferred.
