Safety Coordinator
Summary / Objective
With our client in beautiful Southern Utah, safety isn't just a policy-it's a priority. As our Safety Coordinator, you'll be the driving force behind cultivating a proactive safety culture across our mining and processing operations. This role blends hands-on leadership with strategic oversight to ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company protocols. You'll champion safety innovation, employee education, and emergency readiness in a complex and fast-paced mining/industrial environment.
Essential Functions
Safety Program Leadership
• Design and execute site-wide safety programs aligned with MSHA and OSHA regulations.
• Lead risk assessments, JSAs, and hazard mitigation strategies across all facilities.
• Continuously adapt and refine protocols in response to operational or regulatory changes.
Training & Safety Education
• Deliver engaging MSHA-compliant training and onboarding sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Promote proper use of PPE and site-specific safety behaviors.
• Create and distribute safety content including toolbox talks, bulletins, and internal communications.
Audits, Inspections & Investigations
• Conduct regular inspections across all departments
• Investigate incidents thoroughly, document root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain thorough, audit-ready records of safety activities and outcomes.
Compliance & Reporting
• Ensure full adherence to MSHA, OSHA, and internal standards.
• Draft timely and detailed safety reports.
• Coordinate and communicate with external regulators during inspections and audits.
Emergency Preparedness
• Develop, test, and maintain emergency response procedures (evacuation, spill containment, etc.).
• Lead drills and build a strong, well-trained Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Resource & Equipment Oversight
• Maintain and manage safety gear, PPE, and emergency equipment.
• Conduct regular checks of eyewash stations, extinguishers, fall protection systems, and emergency comms.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 1 year of direct safety experience in an industrial or mining setting.
Preferred:
• MSHA Blue Card certification
• Recognized achievements in safety leadership or innovation
