Position: Traveling Installation/Finishing Lead for Retail Environments

About the Role

This role will work very closely with the Install Director, to ensure that all projects are managed in accordance with company standards and expectations. This is a traveling position. Expect to be working away from home 2-3 weeks at a time. When not on a scheduled installation, this role may be required at times to be in office in Cedar City, UT for training.

The Lead will own the preparations and on-site outcomes. As the Finishing Crew Lead, you plan, stage materials for shipping from manufacturing, and then lead the crew on site to deliver safe, correct, and quality on-time installations. You are the point of accountability on the ground: safety, schedule, quality, client sign-off, and complete close-out.

As the lead, you will be expected to:
  • Plan & Prep:
    Confirm site readiness, drawings, hardware, finishes, lifts, and access; verify load-out and tools; align labor plan and daily schedule with Install Director.
  • Lead in the Field:
    Run daily huddles; assign tasks; enforce safety; coordinate with GCs, subs, store leadership; work through challenges quickly and decisively.
  • Finish to Specifications:
    Execute layouts, level/plumb/anchor, multi-step assembly, and finish standards.
  • Daily Reporting:
    Submit reports at the end of each work period back to project managers through approved technology detailing completed items, redo’s, challenges, and questions for the next shifts agenda.
  • Quality Audit & Punch list:
    Inspect continuously; prevent rework; document issues; close punch items before demobilization.
  • Client & Brand Stewardship:
    Communicate professionally on-site; uphold Decorworx standards; obtain client sign-off.
  • Close-Out:
    Capture progress and completed photos, redlines, warranties, counts, and daily logs; submit digital close-out package and final sign-off within 24 hours.
  • Coach & Model:
    Train junior installers on safe practices, tools, reading drawings, and pace; set the tone for long travel runs.
  • Logistics Interface:
    Partner with Logistics Coordinator on shipments, rentals, lodging, and adjustments to the plan.
  • Safety First:
    Own JHAs (job hazard analysis), fall protection, equipment inspections, housekeeping, and incident reporting.
What You Bring
  • Experience:

    3–5+ years in retail décor, signage, millwork, fixture, or light construction installs; prior crew-lead or foreman experience.
  • Technical:
    Read architectural drawings, elevations, finish schedules, engineering/spec sheets, and install layouts, and be able to interpret the space the decor was designed for. You must be competent with anchors, adhesives, and hand/power tools; will have knowledge of low voltage lighting systems and the install of same.
  • Leadership:
    Clear communicator, calm under pressure, high follow-through; can motivate crews to constantly work at the highest standard.
  • Safety &

    Certifications:

    OSHA-10 (OSHA-30 preferred), aerial lift/forklift certs (or earn within 60 days), valid driver’s license insurable by company policy; clean driving record, DOT med card required, CPR certified a plus.
  • Physical:
    Lift/move 75+ lbs. with assistance as needed; stand/walk, climb ladders, and work at heights; able to work nights/weekends.
  • Travel:
    Comfortable with 2–3-week road runs; professional conduct in partner locations.

Compensation & Perks
  • At the Director’s discretion, there may be a paid probation/evaluation period, for up to 90 days, upon hiring before the “Lead” role is officially awarded.
  • Pay Type:

    Hourly, potentially a dual rate pay scale - a higher rate for when fulfilling Lead duties and a standard rate for off install work/travel time. Leads will be eligible for overtime (higher Lead rates will only be paid on qualifying hours).
  • $28-$45/hr
  • Travel:
    Per-diem for meals & incidentals, company-paid lodging, travel time compensated at regular rates.
