Position: Customer Service Clerk (Mid-day or Closing Shifts)

At the Cedar Band Travel Plaza, our Customer Service Clerks are at the core of our professional team. They share the responsibility of maintaining a high standard of customer service, housekeeping, signs, pricing, and cash register operations (POS) while generating sales and handling loss prevention. The primary contact for customers is responsible for addressing and answering questions, inquiries, and complaints. Maintaining high performance at a fast pace for customer productivity is a key element of the role.

  • $14.00 per hour starting wage
  • PART‑TIME, 20‑30 hours a week (3‑4 days)
  • Hiring for Mid‑day/ Afternoon/ Evening shifts
  • Shift start times vary from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment that includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, and solid product knowledge.
  • Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions, and advertisements.
  • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, processing, and replenishing merchandise; participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock, and housekeeping.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at POS registers.
  • Communicate customer requests to management.
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for simple grab‑n‑go meals.

Essential Competencies
  • Ability to process information/merchandise through the computer system and POS register system.
  • Ability to communicate with associates and guests, read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
  • Ability to freely access all areas of the store including the selling floor, stock room, register, and operate or use all equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0–50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain productivity.
  • Working knowledge of POS systems.
  • Detail‑oriented with great organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to multi‑task and effectively manage time.
  • Professionalism for in‑person customer service and client focus.
  • Problem‑solving / analysis and teamwork orientation.
  • Proficient communicator with technical capacity.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
Work Environment

The Customer Service Clerk operates in a fast‑paced retail/convenience store environment. This role routinely uses standard store equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, inventory stocking, cleaning, organizing, and more.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of a Customer Service Clerk. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, sit for prolonged periods, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 50 pounds, carry stock and merchandise, and stoop or crouch.

Type / Expected Hours of Work

The Customer Service Clerk is a part‑time position. Hours of work and days will vary across the seven days of the week, Monday through Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight) including holidays as assigned or scheduled. Shift assignments will rotate every two weeks.

  • Closing Shifts 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience (in‑person/face‑to‑face).
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Experience with G‑site POS system register.
  • Experience working in a gas station, convenience store, or other comparable operation.
Work Authorization / Security Clearance

Must be authorized to legally work within the United States of America.
