Position Summary

Journeyman Electrician:
Responsible for the safe operation, installation, and maintenance of campus electrical under the supervision of the Manager of Electrical or Electrician Supervisor.

Apprentice Electrician:
Responsible for the safe operation, installation, and maintenance of campus electrical under the supervision of the Manager of Electrical or Electrician Supervisor.

Essential Functions
  • Journeyman Electrician
    • Work together and independently to safely repair, install, and maintain campus electrical components and systems including pumps, fans, electrical control systems, elevators, clocks, fire alarms, lighting systems, farm pump wells, water level controls, thermostats, AC and DC systems, HVAC systems, transformers, athletic scoreboards, complete campus medium voltage distribution system, emergency generators, complete campus communications system, and any other electrical related equipment.
    • Work with supervision in determining and planning building electrical loads.
    • Change, repair, and install new electrical equipment as required.
    • Work with others to maintain all campus safety features such as fire alarms, exit lights, and call boxes.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Apprentice Electrician
    • Work with supervision in determining and planning building electrical loads.
    • Work together and independently repair campus electrical components and systems.
    • Change, repair, and install new electrical equipment as required.
    • Work with others to maintain all campus safety features such as fire alarms, exit lights, and call boxes.
    • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Journeyman Electrician

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School or GED.
  • Utah Journeyman Electrician License preferred, minimum of current enrollment in Utah Electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, strong human relations abilities, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations applicable to the area of responsibility.
  • Interaction with: a. Campus community b. Vendors & Contractors.
  • Attend training and receive certifications related to position, including software training.
  • Must be able to work safely with power and hand tools.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal, with Facilities Management staff regarding critical information, shift occurrences, work orders, problems, upcoming needs, and tasks beyond the individual's scope and capability.
  • Must have a current Utah Driver's License.
Apprentice Electrician

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School or GED.
  • Utah Journeyman Electrician License preferred, minimum of current enrollment in Utah Electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Working knowledge of the following computer program(s) Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, strong human relations abilities, and excellent oral and Written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations applicable to the area of responsibility.
  • Attend training and receive certifications related to position, including software training.
  • Must be able to work safely with power and hand tools.

  • Must have a current Utah Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications Either Positions
  • Licensed second- or third-year apprentice electrician. Journeyman licensure preferred.
  • Proven ability to complete tasks and assignment with excellent workmanship and code knowledge.
  • Proven outstanding work ethic demonstrated through previous employment or schooling.
  • Emphasis on commercial and light industrial electrical preferred.
Supplemental Information

Position is contingent on funding.
