Position: SIGN TECHNICIAN

POSITION: SIGN TECHNICIAN STARTING PAY: $23.30/hour (Minimum Starting Wage) EMPLOYMENT STATUS: FULL-TIME; CAREER SERVICE; BENEFIT ELIGIBLE POSITION JOB SUMMARY

Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties related to the preparation, manufacturing, and installation of signs and warning devices. Other departmental duties as assigned.

Works under the general supervision of the Iron County Engineer and Senior Sign Technician.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent is required. At least one (1) year of verifiable equipment operating, construction, or closely related job experience. Must have a valid Utah Driver License. Must be able to perform heavy lifting up to and over 50 lbs.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must have and maintain a valid Utah Driver License.

Attend any required training seminars when scheduled.

Attend scheduled defensive driving courses, and UDOT Flagging school as required to obtain and maintain certification.

Ability to

Effectively communicate instructions to contractors/act as lead on projects/jobs when assigned; maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of regular work activities; self-motivated; work safely and efficiently; regularly lift up to 50 pounds (occasionally more); work unsupervised and accept responsibility for actions; communicate effectively with co-workers and the general public; use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations;

plan, organize and prioritize daily assignments and work activities; communicate via radio and telephone; read basic blueprints, plans and specifications; meet and deal with the public in a positive manner.
