Youth Mentor - Lava Heights Academy

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth! The Rite of Passage Team is hiring a Youth Mentor at Lava Heights Academy in Toquerville, Utah.

Lava Heights Academy is a residential treatment program that provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for vulnerable young women referred from juvenile courts and social service agencies worldwide. The youth enter the program with a history of abuse, neglect, trauma, substance abuse, mental illness, and violence, and they graduate as educated young women who have overcome challenges and demonstrated healthy choices for their future.

$20.00 per hour, depending on experience and education.

• $1,000 bonus after successful completion of Essential Skills Training (within the first 90 days).
• $500 sign‑on bonus paid at 6 months of employment.

• Medical insurance beginning the first of the month following 60 days of full‑time employment.
• Access to the Rite of Passage Benefits Package after 90 days of full‑time employment.
• 403(b) match up to 6% after 1 year of employment.
• Paid Time Off that can be used as soon as it accrues.

As a Youth Mentor, you will provide safety and around‑the‑clock supervision for the youth, create a supportive atmosphere, monitor and document student behaviors and activities, participate in educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities, and collaborate with other professional staff to establish and meet each student’s treatment plan goals.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 21 years old.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical, and TB screening.

7:00 am to 8:00 pm or 8:00 am to 9:00 pm with a 1‑hour break (12‑hour shift).

Long week days:
Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Short week days:
Wednesday, Thursday.
