Position Description for Manufacturing Engineer – Kryton Engineered Metals
Reports to: Production Planning Manager
Location: Cedar Falls, IA

PositionSummary
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for creating and revising engineering designs, supporting production and tooling needs, managing engineering changes, and collaborating closely with production teams to improve manufacturability, efficiency, and product quality. The position is fully on-site and requires regular interaction on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities- Perform reverse engineering of existing parts and assemblies; develop design recommendations based on findings
- Create and manage print designs and engineering drawings to production standards
- Generate 3D models and prints from physical parts or estimated data
- Recreate and update models from estimating inputs to support quoting and planning workflows
- Execute document and model revisions in response to engineering changes or production feedbackli>
- Create Solid Works models in support of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
- Review ECNs for manufacturability, flagging concerns and recommending design adjustments as needed
- Evaluate ECN process impacts and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure smooth implementation
- Provide shop floor triage support, resolving day-to-day production issues and technical questions in a timely manner
- Assist in the development and optimization of shop floor layout for improved workflow and efficiency
- Design and develop fixtures to support manufacturing operations
- Identify opportunities for machine improvement; design or redesign components to enhance performance or reliability
- Proficiency in Solid Works; ability to create, revise, and manage 3D models, BOMs, and engineering drawings
- An understanding of GD&T, engineering drawing standards, and manufacturing processes
- Exposure to shop floor environments and lean manufacturing principles
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical assembly drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, collaborative environment

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or closely related field.
